Karen Tanner

Karen Tanner has a studio in North Richmond and works as a designer, sculptor and painter. She leverages a wide range of materials and techniques to express her creative ideas, including; mixed media, paper, welding, burnt wood, soldered wire, silk and watercolour. More recently, Karen’s works have included sculptural forms using wire and natural light, or feature lighting, and shadows to create a cascade of images.

Karen has successfully participated in many solo and group exhibitions and has sold her work throughout Australia and Internationally.

Her formal training is in Graphic Art. (School of Fine Arts, Sydney). Her post graduate training includes; Certificate II Engineering (welding), Metal forging, Foundry Metal Casting and Sculpture I, II, III. Karen has always loved a challenge and constantly questions how to express her creative ideas. She metamorphoses to a state of creative consciousness, away from the pressures of daily life, to create her artworks.

Karen will be joined for the 2024 Open Studio Weekend by guest artist Trish Fraunfelter – Eastbourne Art. Make sure to come and see their beautiful works on display 24th & 25th August 2024.
